REPAIR, PATCH OR REPLACE? When to repair or patch your roof: Every roof needs to be replaced eventually, but the good news is that you may be able to repair or patch it! If there is only minor damage, your roof is still fairly new, or only a small area has been affected, this may be a sign that only a repair or patch job is warranted. A fallen branch, or even wind could affect only a certain area or areas of the roof.  When your roof may need  to  be fully replaced: As mentioned in our last blog post, age is one of the most common reasons your roof would need to be replaced. If you notice a significant amount of missing shingles or shingles that have missing granules and clogging gutters, it is most definitely time to replace your full roofing system. Are your shingles curling at the edges or discolored? These are sure signs that the efficiency of your roof is declining. SIGNS YOU MAY NEED A NEW ROOF OR REPAIR: 1.   Attic -  If you have an attic, take your flashlight up there and climb up under the eaves. Look for beams of light coming through the top, or stains and streaks which are signs of a leaky roof. 2. Check your records- See how long ago your roof was replaced. Knowing when it was installed and what material was used will offer insight on how much life is left. 3. Check shingles- Keep an eye on your rooftop, especially after heavy storms. If you notice cracks, buckling or shingles with missing granules, a repair or replacement in more than likely in order. If you have gutters and downspouts, check them as well for granules. A roof losing a lot of granules may be at the end of it's life.  4. Flashing- Inspect the flashing around vents, skylights, and chimney seals for any cracks or breaks, which could lead to leaks. 5.
